Quad Stack — 20 ft standard DC block
Two 2×2 clusters with skids stacked between them — eight DC blocks sharing a central aisle
Overview
Two 2×2 clusters side by side with two PCS & MV skids stacked vertically between them. Each skid serves one row from both clusters — four blocks total.
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| DC blocks | 8 × 20 ft (two 2×2 clusters) |
| PCS & MV skids | 2 × 40 ft |
| Section height | 7.9 m (25.8 ft) |
Energy capacity
At 2h each skid would need to convert more power than it can handle, so the solver builds Quad Split pairs instead.
| DC block | BESS section (8 blocks) | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| 6.25 MWh | 50 MWh / 12.5 MW | 4h |
Clearance and spacing defaults
Service clearance and spacing used by default. All values are adjustable in BESSLayout.
| Setting | Default |
|---|---|
| DC block door side | 3.5 m (11.5 ft) |
| DC block cable end | 2 m (6.6 ft) |
| PCS & MV skid | 3 m (9.8 ft) all sides |
| Fire separation (between DC blocks of different sections) | 5 m (16.4 ft) |
Cable layout
Each skid serves the row nearest to it — the top skid connects to the top row of both clusters, the bottom skid to the bottom row. At 40 ft each skid has two PCS sections.
Single BESS section footprint
Land area at default clearance. Door clearance on the top and bottom (outward-facing doors), cable-end clearance on each side.
